BJGT North Foreland Classic & Parent/Junior
What a glorious venue North Foreland Golf Club is!
Sitting right on the coast, two beautiful and challenging courses were laid on for the competitors who relished the opportunity and views provided.
Our thanks go to Chris and his team for making us feel so welcome for what was a very enjoyable weekend by the sea.
Team Norman, consisting of Noah and Stephen, claimed the first title of the 2023 series, 39 points gave them a nice cushion over the defending champions, Kodi and David Dean, who finished as runners-up with 36 points, while Brody and Don MacIver completed the Top 3 a single point further back.
North Foreland Classic
Louie Goh (67) continued his fine early season form to claim another victory and extend his lead at the top of the Order of Merit, he finished ahead of Oscar Robertson (87) in second place.
Zachary Blayney edged a very tight finish, his 62 had the better back 9 to give him the victory over Noah Norman on countback, Brody MacIver completed the podium places just a single shot further back.
Round of the day on the Par 3 came from Caleb Twyman, his +2 total of 56 gave him a deserved win, 3-shots ahead of Teo Rasteiro who’s superb 59 left him in second, with Michael Egan (64) claiming third place.
The Girls title went to Elizabeth Bykova who took home her first BJGT trophy after her round of 83.
Marcus Karim claimed his first victory in the Gross division having moved up this year, his superb 78 was matched by Harry Dean but with the better back 9 Marcus took maximum points, Jake Jeff-Johnston took third place but this was also on countback over the back 9 after Oliver Smith carded the same score.
Harry and Marcus reversed the order for the Net Division as Harry finished with a Net 64 to claim the win by 2-shots, while Oliver grabbed third place after getting a positive countback decision over Patrick Rothwell and Kavin Yogalingam who all had 67’s
Girls Junior Open
The division was dominated by Amelia McGinty, as she took home her first event double in claiming both Gross and Net titles, her fine round of 80, Net 68, meant two very nice glass trophies for her cabinet.
Boys Junior Open
The Gross Division was headed by Alex Oddy who’s 73 gave him a 2-shot winning margin over Robert Payne (75) in second, with Will Hunt taking home the third place trophy a single shot further back.
The Net Division saw a tie at the top as Austin Scott and Will both ended the day on 70 but Austin got the decision based on the back 9, while Freddie Raven grabbed third place after his round of 71.
The BJGT now heads to Oundle Golf Club, another first time venue for us, as the new and varied challenges continue.
