South Staffs GC: Report, Results and Photos

Event Report

A superb venue that couldn't have done more for us, and one that we would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for a friendly, welcoming club and a great test of golf!

Lesley, David and former European Tour, Ryder Cup & Seniors Tour star, Peter Baker, were wonderful hosts on the day, who all made a very special effort for the juniors - thank you so much!

6&Under Division

Marcus Karim made it two wins on the bounce as he secured top spot at South Staffs after carding a round of 42, while a Tour debut for Johnny Hughes resulted in a runner-up trophy after his round of 52.

7-8 Division

Georgia Groves and Stella Walters are looking like they will have a real battle this season, as the two of them trade results in the Girls Division, with Georgia coming out on top here after a round of 54.

Oliver Hulbert (43) produced a superb display to take the win and maximum points in the Boys Division, ahead of Dylan Barney (47) in second, who was a single shot ahead of Noah Hamer (48) who continued his good form to secure third.

9-10 Division

A brilliant 39 from Fraser Walters saw him deservedly take the honours in the Boys Division, and it was needed, as Matthew Whittaker continued his consistent start to the season with a round of 42 to take second place, ahead of Ellis Kerr (45), who took his first trophy of 2020.

Alicia Kelly took the girls title with her round of 55 ahead of Amilia McGinty in second.

11-12 Division

Joshua Gardner headed the field and ended Ronnie Groves's winning streak, as he and Harry Howell both carded matching 79s, requiring a countback to separate them, leaving Ronnie in third, three shots back after an 82.

Junior Open Division

Luca Randall produced another standout performance to win his second Net Division title of the season after a fine 64, but it only left him two shots ahead of Charlie Goodridge, who in turn was only a single shot in front of Max Rowlands in third, as the Top 3 all went very low.

Single shots separated each of the Top 3 places in the Girls Gross Division, with Maisie Whittall's 92 good enough by the tightest of margins from Chloe Williamson in second and Arianna Virik in third.

The Boys Gross Division saw Ben Bolton make his first start of the season and take home the winner's trophy after a fine round of 77. There was also a first outing for Sam Epstein and he needed a countback to edge out Charlie Goodridge for second after a pair of matching 79s.

Every event is so close, in most divisions, with the level of golf being quite superb - amazing to see, well done! Also, well done for maintaining a great pace of play at South Staffs, let's stick with it for the rest of the season!

The BJGT moves on to the first affiliated event of the season, at Witney Lakes next weekend, so we wish all of you heading there the best of luck!
