Sun cream and water were the order of the day for an absolute scorcher at South Essex Golf Club, on the warmest day of the year so far; the golf on display was just as hot!

Many thanks to the club for their help on the day with starting the juniors off.

Junior Open Category

The Boys Junior Open Gross Division was headed by last season’s Order of Merit Champion Micah Blowers, as he moved to the top of the table once again at this early stage.
His 72 gave him a 3-shot victory over Alex Oddy in second, while Max Oats came out on top the countback for third with Harry Flynn after matching 76s.
Alex went one place better in the Net Division, as his 65 earned him a single shot advantage over Eddie Cook in second, who was three shots clear of Freddie Sartoris in third.
Chrisha Thapa took the Girls Gross title after a round of 85 and Sophia Moores the Net Division with a great round of 70.

13-14 Category

Will Bailey extended his lead at the top of the OOM with another victory in the Boys 13-14 Division, as his fine 76 was good enough for a 3-shot cushion over Joseph Sidwell, who claimed the runner-up trophy.

11-12 Category

The Boys 11-12 Division title was won by Justin Chenu, the only player to break the 80 barrier after posting a great score of 78. Ray Smart came home in second with a round of 80, a single shot ahead of Tristan Evans in third.

9-10 Category

AJ Van Emmenis returned to the winners’ circle in the 9-10 Division, topping another quality field, with a round of 37 giving the narrowest of winning margins over Billy Parrish (38) in second, and Rhys Hughes (39) in third.

7-8 Category

The 7-8 Division was even closer, as three players all tied at the top after matching 38s, adding to the list of incredible finishes on the BJGT.
Ruaan Vamadevan grabbed the slimmest of victories based on countback over the last 3 holes, Toby Chahrvin was placed second with the better final hole, while Leo Boniface settled for third, but there is obviously some incredible talent out there.

6 & Under Category

Brody MacIver (39) continued his blistering start to the 2021 season by taking another victory in the 6 & Under Division. Jack Proctor (47) took the runner-up glassware.

The BJGT now moves on to the first Major of the season, the British JGT Open, at Rochester and Cobham Park – this promises to be a very exciting event, at a wonderful course (venue for The Open Regional Qualifying Series 2021), with some all important bonus points on offer!
