The BJGT’s first visit to Sandwell Park and what a lovely club it is, very friendly, great clubhouse with plenty of space – our thanks go to Chris for hosting!
Junior Open Category
The great British summer seemed to desert us in the Midlands, as the day was overcast and rather cold.
The Junior Open Division opened the event and two players dominated both the boys’ and girls’ divisions.
Curtis Ritchie did the double in the boys section, as his gross 75, net 69, was good enough to give him both winners’ trophies ahead of Joel Warne’s gross 77, net 71, who took both the runner-up places but did extend his lead at the top of the Net Order of Merit.
Ellie Lichtenhein matched Curtis’ daily double in the girls section, as she topped both tables after her gross 79, net 76, left Serafima Taylor in second in both categories after her round of 90, net 79.
9-10 Category
The 9-10 Girls Division was topped by Georgia Groves, as she continued a superb run of form to take the win and post the lowest round of the day overall (boys and girls combined), with her 41 also moving her into the Top 10 on the Order of Merit table.
The Boys section was headed for the first time by Harry Dean, who claimed his maiden victory on the BJGT with a fine round of 43 giving him a 4-shot victory over Brendan Riff, who took second, while Byron Clements (50) came home in third.
7-8 Category
Mihir Pasura did his Order of Merit chances no harm at all, with another victory here adding to his total at the top, after a round of 40 gave him a 2-shot cushion over Theo Oderinde in second, while Alfie Skinner claimed his first podium finish of the season by finishing third a further two shots back.
6 & Under Category
The 6 & Under Division saw Zachary Blayney and Brody MacIver go head-to-head and they produced a fantastic duel, with Zachary coming out on top by a single shot, as his 46 just edged out Brody for the top spot and maximum Order of Merit Points.
The BJGT now has a 10-day break before the ever popular Royston Classic.
