Event 2 at Oak Park Golf club could not have been more different to the opening event just two weeks ago.
40-50mph winds and the odd battering of rain made for the most testing of conditions.

Junior Open Category

The Junior Open standard scratch moved to ‘Reduction Only’, as only a single player made it into the buffer zone!
Oliver Brightman deserves credit for his superb net 70 in awful conditions to take the Net Division title, followed by Joseph Drummond on 74 and Mustafa Hassan a single shot further back.
Lewis Beeden, the 2018 champion, kicked off his title defence with a win in the Gross Division after an 82, but only by a single shot from Joseph Drummond who added a second runner up trophy to his day’s haul, with Jack Lee in 3rd on 84.

11-12 Age Group

The 11-12 Division was headed by William Bailey on his BJGT debut, as his 82 was the outstanding score in the age group, ahead of Alex Alder and Sam Marshall with 89 and 90, respectively.
The girls’ section was won by Charlotte Jean, another debutant, as her 95 was three shots better than Zoe McLean-Tattan.

9-10 Age Group

Luca Randall claimed his first victory of 2019, also by a single shot, as his 46 edged out Michael Haywood and Lewis Karim, whose 47s gave them joint second place on the day.

7-8 Age Group

A brilliant 43 from Fraser Walters just pipped fellow Scot, Fraser Mackenzie, for the 7-8 Division win, again by a single shot margin, as they proved that being used to the Scottish winds was a distinct advantage today. Yumin Do claimed 3rd place with a 47.

6 & Under IMG Academy Junior World Championships Qualifier

Due to the appalling weather conditions, the decision was taken to reduce the qualifier to 9 holes rather than 18, as it would have been simply too much for the youngest players to play a full round.
Sebastian Duffield fired the round of the day, as a superb 41 was good enough to claim his place in the Junior World Championships. He was followed home by Toby Chahrvin (45) in second, who also played his way onto the BJGT team, which is completed by Leo Boniface and Marcus Karim after matching 46s, as well as Stella Walters and Jasmine Ren.
Huge congratulations to all six players, we know you will do the BJGT proud in San Diego.

The Tour now moves on to Edgbaston Golf Club, on 24 March, when we will certainly be hoping for calmer conditions!
