New owners – same great reception and support!
Bourn Golf and Country Club again proved to be a superb host venue for the BJGT – what a warm welcome from the new owners, who allowed us to give them a baptism of fire, having only taken over the club recently!
General Manger, Dan, and the Bourn team really looked after us on the day; with a large number of players (108!), the bar staff did incredibly well to keep up with food and drink orders. The course provided a stern test of golf for all divisions and many players and parents were complimentary of the course layout and condition.
We’ve already heard that Bourn enjoyed having us and getting to see you all play, and look forward to having us back next year!
We would also like to thank the event sponsor, JMJ Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, for their support, and offering a 4-ball voucher, which was won by Noah Hamer in a random draw on the putting green.
Junior Open Category
Jack Lee (Dartford GC) and Tyler Weaver went head-to-head again on the course and topped the Junior Open Leaderboard. Jack (76), who travels to San Diego in the summer with the BJGT team to represent the UK at the IMG Academy Junior World Championships, just got the better of Tyler (77), who is representing the BJGT and the UK at the Jakarta Junior World Championship later this month, by a single shot. Mustafa Hussan (80) finished in third.
In the Net Division, Mustafa Hussan (Langley Park GC) added to his trophy collection by claiming the top spot with a fine 69, as Jack Lee also claimed a second trophy in the runner-up position and Patrick McLean-Tattan in third.
The Girls Division was headed by Ciara Egan (Woburn GC) ahead of Jessica Brown in second.
Nearest-the-Pin (hole 1) – Mustafa Hussan
11-12 Age Group
The 11-12 age group (playing 18 holes off the red tees) proved to be as hot as ever, with Theo Morris (Links Newmarket GC) producing a superb 76 to take the win ahead of Oliver Kelloway, who finished two shots back, and Sam Marshall, who claimed third a further two shots behind.
Olivia Wynne (Bourn GC) lived up to her name by taking the winner’s trophy for the girls, edging out Zoe McLean-Tattan into second by two shots.
Nearest-the-Pin – Oliver Kelloway
9-10 Age Group
The hugely popular 9-10 Division (playing 9 holes off the red tees) was extremely close, as one shot separated the top 3, with Luca Randall (Cambridge Meridian GC) claiming another win, after a countback from Pranay Patel, as they shot matching 44s. Maxi Moore was only a single shot behind after his 45.
Sapphire Boyce (Little Hay GC) put in a fine performance, taking home the winner’s trophy for the girls and finishing in 8th overall, ahead of Lila-Belle Nacca in second and Maisie Whittall in third.
Nearest-the-Pin – Sapphire Boyce
7-8 Age Group
The 7-8 Division (playing approximately 2000 yards) saw an incredibly close finish, as four players finished within a shot of each other at the head of the field, but Fraser Mackenzie (Inverness GC) continued his excellent form by firing a brilliant 39, leaving Matthew Whitaker, Oliver McDonnell and Adian Van Emmenis joint second after they all posted a score of 40!
Nearest-the-Pin – Fraser Mackenzie
6/Under Age Group
Sebastian Duffield (Windlesham GC) arguably had the round of the day in the 6 & Under Division (playing approximately 1500 yards), as an incredible round of 34 (-2) put him five shots clear of Freddie Buck in second, who himself had a superb round of 39, with Toby Chahrvin in third.
