The first of three events in our ‘Essex Swing

In the first of three events in our ‘Essex Swing’, the field tackled both courses at Three Rivers, with the 18-hole players going round the Kings Course, while the 9-hole players faced the Jubilee Course.
The scoring and level of competition was as fierce as ever, with some incredible results in multiple divisions.

6 & Under Category

The 6 & Under Division saw Marcus Karim continue his brilliant run with yet another sub-par round of 33 (-2), which included an eagle to top the table again. Theo Oderinde followed him home in second, five shots back, while Alfie Skinner took the bronze medal following his 41.

7-8 Category

Sully Donald returned to the winner’s circle after coming out on top of a countback with his good friend, Dylan Barney, as they both fired rounds of 36, leaving Dylan with the silver medal, and Jenson Ringer with the bronze, as he came home just one shot behind the leading pair.

9-10 Category

The 9-10 Division saw another incredibly close finish, but AJ Van Emmenis claimed his first BJGT victory, which seems incredible given how close he’s come on numerous occasions. His 32 edged out his two playing partners, Fraser Walters and Michael Haywood, as they both carded matching 33s to finish second and third, respectively, from what was a fabulous final group.

11-12 Category

The 11-12 Division saw a BJGT debut victory for Frankie Morton, as his brilliant 77 gave him a comfortable 7-shot margin to playing partner Bailee Taylor in second, while Patrick Chenu (85) edged third place after a countback with Finley White.

Junior Open Category

The Junior Open Boys Gross Division also saw a tie at the top, as William Bailey and Sam Epstein produced a pair of matching 76s, but it was William who had the better back 9 to secure the gold medal. Riley Dowle was a single shot back in third to take the bronze medal.
The Girls Division was topped by Tilly O’Leary, but she too required a coutback to separate her from Ria Prabhakar after they both shot 87, with Zara Gardam two shots behind in third.
The Net Division was taken by Freddie Mann (69), the only player to break 70, while William Bailey (70) and Riley Dowle (71) added to their Gross Medals with a silver and bronze, respectively.

The BJGT now heads straight on to Canons Brook, on Monday, as the Essex Swing gathers pace.
