Edgbaston GC – Review and Photos from Event 2 of the 2018 Season

Sunshine Sunshine Sunshine!!

Our first trip to Edgbaston GC and we will certainly be going back, the club were perfect hosts for the BJGT: amazing clubhouse, brilliant but tough golf course in superb condition, and they even organised warmer weather!

After a horrid few weeks weather-wise, this was more like it and it certainly gave the players the opportunity to display all the hard work done over the winter.

Round of the day came from Satria Cumming, who fired a Gross 70 in the mixed division ahead of George Johnson and Edward Keech, with Grace Rigby-Walden claiming the best gross trophy for the girls. With Satria taking the Gross prize, Jaxson Perry took the top Net prize home on his first Tour outing of 2018, with a fine 69, ahead of Zac Tilling a shot further back.

Peter Pan carded a hugely impressive round of 72 to head the 11-13 Division from Jack Lee (76), who continued his good start to the season, and James Ilsley (77) in third. Jessica Pilgrim took the girls top spot by a single shot from Lily-Rose Hunt.

Billy Wood headed the field by the closest of margins in the 9-10 Division with his 44, a single shot better than joint runners-up Ronnie Groves and Luca Randall, while Estelle Berbner took the girls Winner trophy after a 49.

Ellis Kerr and Hayden Sarfo needed a countback to decide first and second in the 7-8 Division after a fabulous head-to-head, both carding matching 43’s, with Ellis grabbing top spot.

Dylan Barney and Sebastian Duffield again topped the 6 & Under Division, this time with one shot between them, with Dylan’s 40 good enough to take the win from Sebastian’s 41.

Yet another event with nail-biting finishes in multiple divisions, showing just how close and competitive the BJGT Order of Merit tables are going to be this year – Bring on event 3!
