Bourn GC Junior Open: report, results and photos

A taste of summer!

This is what golf in Britain is all about: glorious sunshine, perfect conditions, but a tough course to test the players. Hard and fast greens proved tricky for players still used to extremely soft conditions.

The Mixed Gross Division, incorporating the Bourn Golf Club Junior Open, needed a countback to decide who took the title, with Zak Rzymkowski, the new 2018 Champion, edging out Teddy Hall after matching 77s. In the Net Division, Matthew Peer used his home advantage to top the field with a 71, ahead of Ciara Rushmer in second, just a single shot further back.

Jack Lee proved a class apart once again in the 11-13 Division, off the red tee, as another fine round of level par was enough to secure his fourth win ahead of Tyler Weaver in second, two shots back, and Jamie Sach in third.

The 9-10 Division saw the biggest winning margin, with Ben Sessions securing his first win of the season, as a brilliant 39 meant everyone else was fighting for second, but what a fight it was behind him! Five players finished within a shot of each other, but Ronnie Groves and Olly Filo secured the trophy places in 2nd on 46, with Billy Wood, Rohan Neat and Quin Monaghan all tied in 4th on 47.

Commitment certainly paid dividends for Oliver Robertson, who made an incredible trip from Scotland down to Bourn GC for the event, as his classy round of 40 was enough to claim the 7-8 title ahead of Sam Wilson (41) and Michael Haywood (42) in a predictably tight finish.

Sebastian Duffield continued his winning streak in the youngest category (6 & Under), taking home another winner’s trophy with his 39, two shots better than Dylan Barney in second, with another 3-way tie for third between Jenson Ringer, Billy Parrish and Sully Donald.

Thank you to Bourn GC for being the perfect hosts, we have had very positive feedback from the families and we very much look forward to coming back next year. Special thanks also to the Captain of the Seniors section, Ian Rigg, for doing such a great job as our starter.
