Beautiful autumnal weather for Final Qualifying to determine the BJGT 2018 teams heading out to San Diego next July was a welcome sight, although wet conditions underfoot meant tricky surfaces and a day for patience.

Mark Haghani led the way in the top age group, to book his place on the team to return to Torrey Pines following a solid 76. He was chased home by Ben Allen just 2 shots back, while Hannah Cash secured the top spot for the girls with an 82, ahead of Lucy Bedford in second.

Jake Sowden had the round of the day, carding a 73 and a 7-shot victory in the Boys 13-14 Division, from Rick Zhou and Marco Cuartero, who needed an extremely tense, sudden death play-off to decide who claimed the second place. Rick came out on top at the second extra hole. Ashleigh Critchley will be returning to the JWC for the second year after a 78 saw her finish on top of the Girls 13-14 age group, with Jessica Pilgrim claiming the runner-up spot and a place on the BJGT team.

A single shot decided both the 11-12 Divisions, as Louie Walsh fired a superb 74 to edge out Elliot Jones on 75 at the top of the boys, while Sunny Wang, 81, took the win for the girls to make consecutive appearances at Junior World ahead of Lili Rose Hunt, 82, who will be joining her in San Diego.

Billy Wood claimed the top spot in the Boys 9-10 age group after a fine 79, with Alex Alder taking the second qualifying place on 84. Lila-Belle Nacca is another player retaining a place on the BJGT team, this time in the Girls 9-10, as she claimed the win with 89, ahead of Estelle Berbner.

Ellis Kerr rounded off a fine season in the Boys 7-8 Division, as he took the honors at Park Hill to claim his place on the team with a score of 89, ahead of Hayden Sarfo who took the runner-up spot with 94, while Arianna Virik secured her place in the girls age group with 87, ahead of Lucie Strnadova in second.

In the youngest age group, Dylan Barney continued his great form from a very consistent season to earn the win with a fantastic 79, ahead of Oliver Aghera on 84, who edged out two other players, who finished on 85 in a very tight climax.
